Hi guys! I’m back, with a totally new kind of post. I get asked a lot about makeup on Instagram, and after almost two years of being vegan I have finally curated a makeup collection of vegan friendly, cruelty free items I love to use everyday.
I tend to switch between high and low end depending on the product – for example I think it’s worth spending extra on mascara but not face powder.
It’s a long process, especially if, like me, you have always bought lot of makeup. I still have non-vegan items from years ago that I’m using up, and whilst I wouldn’t repurchase them, I also think it’s more wasteful to throw them away. Makeup is expensive!
So if anyone is planning on trying Veganuary, making a resolution to go cruelty free or just needing some inspiration for an everyday make up look, this is for you.
Face Products
Every morning I use a cream containing SPF, and in winter my favourite is Superdrug Naturally Radiant Cream, which has SPF 15 and sinks in super quickly.
Then I use primer – one of my current favourites is The Ordinary Primer (£3.90).
For foundation, Kat Von D Foundation (£27.00) is my current go to. It’s so high coverage! I use this for work because it lasts all day and still looks flawless. I used to use Estee Lauder’s double wear and this is a good dupe. An affordable alternative which I love is The Ordinary Serum Foundation in 1.0/1.1 (£5.70). For an everyday foundation this is so good! It doesn’t last all day on my skin unless I use primer and setting spray but it does give really nice natural coverage and the shade range is amazing! I use the Zoeva Buffer Brush (£15.00) followed by a Beauty Blender (£17.00) for foundation.
I then go in with Too Faced Concealer in very fair (£20.00), which I had to lighten with The Body Shop’s Shade Adjusting Drops in lightening. These are a godsend if you’re really pale. The darkening drops also make a great subtle bronzer and are good in summer to add to foundation if you tan easily and don’t want to have to buy more products!
3INA Highlighter in 201 (£12.95) – This is not one for those who like their highlighter to be obvious! Day to day though the it gives a lovely subtle glow. It’s definitely better applied with fingers though as my brush just doesn’t pick it up. For a night out I always go for BECCA shimmering skin perfector (£30) – Moonstone, Opal, Topaz, Champagne Gold (BECCA website exclusive), Pearl and Brushed Copper are all vegan!
Finally I use a light dusting of ELF Finishing Powder in light/medium (£7.50) with my Real Technqiues Powder Brush to keep everything in place.
Eye products
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara £19.00 – Literally the best mascara I’ve used to date! I’ll actually repurchase this which is saying something as I have no mascara loyalty. People have actually asked if I wear fake eyelashes with this on.
NYX Lid Lingerie (£6.00). All the shades are vegan and so easy to apply and blend, this is my go to if i’m getting ready in a hurry! I’m wearing gold standard and evening spell.
Kat Von D Eyebrow Pomade in Blonde (£17.00). I apply this with my Zoeva Wing Liner Brush. It’s pretty much identical to ABH Dipbrow Pomade which is also vegan.
Lip products
I got the Medusas Makeup Lipstick in Sugar Daddy (£12.00) in a Glossybox vegan edition and it’s the perfect nude, lasts a decent amount of time and wears well. I also love Lime Crime Matte Velvetines Lipstick (£18.00) which last longer but do tend to dry my lips out, so I always apply balm over the top.
Finally, Urban Decay Setting Spray (£24.00) is the only setting spray I’ll ever use; it keeps makeup on for ages and uses temperature control to stop things getting too shiny.

Let’s just ignore the fact I appear to have foundation in my hair… it’s not actually grey.
I hope you enjoyed an insight into my makeup routine. Do you like any of these products? Am I missing your essentials? Let me know below.
